Kurdistan Technical Institute Lecturer Successfully Completes Groundbreaking MA Thesis on English and Kurdish Sorani Metaphors

In a remarkable academic achievement, Mr. Emad Amin, a lecturer at Kurdistan Technical Institute has successfully completed his master’s thesis, adopting a comparative approach between English and Kurdish Sorani. The thesis, titled “Orientational Metaphor in English and Kurdish Sorani: A Corpus-Based Approach,” explores metaphorical similarities in both languages.

Notably, this research was conducted at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, which ranks second among German universities and holds the 38th position globally in the 2025 Times Higher Education rankings.

Given the limited presence of Kurdish language scholars in international universities outside Kurdistan, undertaking such comparative research required exceptional dedication. This accomplishment represents a significant contribution not only to the study of Kurdish but also to the broader field of linguistic research.
